The hotel in an abbey
A holiday in a castle hotel packed with history
The Romantik Hotel Schloss Mondsee is the result of a
history which dates back over a thousand years – from the Benedictine monks and
Countess Almeida to you as a guest at the castle hotel. The special aura of the
hotel is evident from the very moment you enter the building.
The history
of the Hotel Schloss Mondsee in Austria has now become the philosophy of the
hotel. Just like the monks of this former abbey, you too should take the
opportunity to find inner peace and contemplation here. This is Austria’s
oldest Benedictine abbey and was founded in 748. After being destroyed
and re-built several times, the collegiate church was added in the 16th
century. The abbey in Mondsee was handed over to Napoleon in the 18th
century before finally ending up in the hands of the Almeida aristocratic
family. The castle was sold to the Asamer family in 1985 and in 2001 the Hotel
Schloss Mondsee was opened.
