History of Schloss Mondsee: from the former monastery to today's hotel

The Schlosshotel Mondsee can look back on a history of over a thousand years. Even when you first enter, you can feel the very special aura. Austria's oldest Benedictine monastery was founded in 739. After many destructions and reconstructions, the collegiate church was added in the 16th century. The monastery in Mondsee passed to Napoleon in the 18th century and eventually ended up in the hands of the Almeida family. In 1985, the castle was sold to the Asamer family and opened as Hotel Schloss Mondsee in 2001. Since 2014, it has been managed by Gerald Kienesberger and Hanni Schweighofer.
