From Austria's former Benedictine monastery to today's castle hotel

Schlosshotel Mondsee has a history spanning over a thousand years. Upon entering, you can immediately feel its unique aura. The oldest Benedictine monastery in Austria was founded in the year 748. After undergoing multiple destructions and reconstructions, the abbey church was added in the 16th century. The monastery in Mondsee came under Napoleon's control in the 18th century and eventually ended up in the hands of the noble Almeida family. In 1985, the castle was sold to the Asamer family and in 2001, it was reopened as Hotel Schloss Mondsee.
